Sandra DeEtta Campbell, 85, passed away peacefully at Alexian Village on Signal Mountain, Tennessee, Friday, December 29, 2023. She was born in Olean, New York and was raised in nearby Morgantown, West Virginia. A teenager there, she moved with family to Tuscola, Illinois in 1950 where she completed high school. A popular student, Sandra was elected homecoming queen during her senior year. She later married and moved with her son Randy and her husband, because of his job, to Springfield, Illinois in 1960 and finally, because of his job, to Signal Mountain in 1977.
Married for sixty-seven years, Sandra is survived by her loving husband, Jerry L. Campbell of Signal Mountain; her son, Randal L. Campbell of Englewood, Colorado; her sister, Marrianne Kyle of Decatur, Illinois; two granddaughters, Lindsey Nicole Campbell of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Kelly Ann Campbell of Boulder, Colorado; including Sandra's great grandson, Remi Lee Burish of Boulder, Colorado.
Sandra lived an interesting and pleasant life. She attended Eastern Illinois University at Charleston, Illinois and worked afterward at a number of challenging jobs before marrying. She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband on business trips throughout the country. If asked to name a couple of her most enjoyable jobs in life, she may have mentioned being the chaperone for a national beauty queen contestant. She might also have mentioned her experience as a tour guide in Washington D.C.
An avid tennis player, Sandra participated competitively in local, state and national tournaments. Gregarious by nature, she loved being around people and this charming lady will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
