Ronald Joseph Crawford, 73, of Hixson, passed away on August 7, 2023. Ronald was born in Kittanning, PA on September 20, 1949. He graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor’s degree in business. From 1967 to 1986 he worked for GE. During that time he moved from the Ohio campus to GE Ceramics in Chattanooga. In 1986, he became the devoted owner of DQ Grill and Chill in Hixson. If you knew Ron at all, you would know that he LOVED everything about Dairy Queen!! Ron also previously owned Getz Catering, Allstar Catering, and Homerunners. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time with his friends and family.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald G. and Joan M. Crawford; and brothers, Stephen and James Crawford.
Those left to cherish his memory include his girlfriend, Shay Pollard; son, Ronald Crawford; daughter, Lori A. Crawford; sister, Eileen Palm (Don); brothers, Donald and Billy Crawford; sisters, Tina Huth and Mary K. Crawford; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 19th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. A Celebration of Life service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pet Placement Center, 5975 Dayton Blvd, Chattanooga, TN 37415 in Ron’s Honor, as this was the charity that he supported through DQ.
