Rodney came to know the Lord In July 1990. This led to a profound transformation of his life. His focus then became leading others to Christ, especially those with addictions. Rod served as a counselor for the Minnesota Teen Challenge in Minneapolis for several years. In 2009, Rod found his ultimate home for service as the Food Service Director of Adult and Teen Challenge MidSouth in Chattanooga, TN.
Rodney stepped into heaven on September 1, 2023 after a brief illness. In his life, Rodney enjoyed reading his Bible, sharing his faith with others, cooking delicious meals for his students and doting on his granddaughter. He was a member of the Portal Church Fellowship in Chattanooga, TN.
Rodney is survived by 3 children: Liivan (Lee) Haile of Chattanooga, TN, Halima Haile of Milwaukee, WI and Elijah Haile of Milwaukee, WI; 1 granddaughter: Naima Haile; 3 siblings: Denise and husband David of Somerset, KY, Darwin and wife Theresa Hoyles of Madison, MN, and William and wife Akhyani Hoyles of Trimont, MN; 3 nieces: Kristen Hoyles, Crista Olson; and Rachel Henry; 1 nephew: Derek Hoyles; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lorraine Hoyles.
A Celebration of Rodney’s Life will be held on September 5, 2023 at 6:00 pm at the Pavilion on the Adult and Teen Challenge Campus, 1108 West 33rd Street, Chattanooga, TN 37410. Rodney will be laid to rest in his hometown of Madison, MN at a date to be determined.
