Robert (Bob) Frederick McRae, 88 long time resident of Signal Mtn, TN passed away on Monday, November 7th, 2016. He was born in Mt. Vernon, GA and attended Brewton Parker High School. He served in the Marines prior to graduating from Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Management. Upon graduation, he joined the DuPont Corporation, where he remained until he retired with over 40 years of service. He was a long time member of Signal Mtn Presbyterian Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Erb McRae and his son Robert E. McRae. He is survived by his children; Dr. Karen (Colin) McRae of Johnson City, TN, David (Catherine “Kit”) McRae of Dallas, TX. five grandchildren Lt. Robert F. McRae II USMC (Marium), Wyatt McRae, David T. McRae Jr (Carol), Benjamin T. McRae, Andrew P. McRae One great grandchild Kendrick W. McRae.
Bob was a devoted husband and father. He was committed to the people and things he loved. He was married for over 57 years to the true love of his life and his devotion to her was complete. He was proud of his children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchild. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of anything connected to Georgia Tech and the Atlanta Braves. He will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 12th at Alexian Brothers, St. Augustine Chapel on Signal Mtn at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the McKamey Animal Center.
