He was born in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, on March 15, 1961. His parents worked at the Kennedy Space Center on the Florida Atlantic coast. The family moved to the Chattanooga area when he was in his early teens. Mike was a small engine repair mechanic with multiple certifications from organizations in that field. He also graduated from a technology college with a specialty in computer repair. In the past, he, not only repaired, but also built computers. He had many interests, among them home remodeling and vehicle accessories. He was a hard worker at both his job and at home.
Mike was predeceased by his father, Larry F. Roberts, and his sister, Kimberly Ann Roberts.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife, Joann Gerlach; his daughter, Amelia Ann Gerlach; his mother, Carolann Roberts; his sister, Tracy Roberts Housley and brother-in-law, Aubrey Jason Housley; his stepdaughter, Tiffany Capps; his step grandchildren Maliyah and Malikye McKinney; his aunts Linda Working and Pattye Appleton, and his uncle, Tom Appleton, as well as many cousins and friends.
Mike was a loving and giving human being with a fun-loving, funny, and quirky outlook. He could make anyone laugh and took any opportunity to do so. He loved animals, driving with his favorite rock music playing, and helping others. He was a devoted husband, an adoring father, a supportive son, and a positive influence for many. The absence of the glow his light emitted will be deeply felt.
The family will hold a private remembrance to celebrate his life in the near future.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mike's name to an animal shelter or other charity of your choice.
