Thoughts and prayers to Joyce's family.    Her years of dedication to DCI and DCI's patients touched the lives of many. 
 

Joyce, her cousin Ronnie and his daughter Mary Alice, her son Noah, and her husband Brian in FL. Ronnie showed Joyce and Chattanooga Sandy Cape Canaveral, turtles and manatees. (Confusing visit as Ronnie’s wife is also named Sandy!)

Joyce was a dear friend and a great listener.  No matter what I said or did, she always accepted me and loved me regardless.  We were roommates at MTSU in 1968-69 and we had great times and interesting times together.  I have a poem written by Beth Morgan entitled Richer Souls that reads in part:  “Because their lives touched ours, they played important parts in shaping us and growing us, embroidering our hearts.  What we now can hold is a sense of who we are, creations of their lives and love, richer souls by far. . .”    This is what I feel about our friendship.

Joyce was a very dear and loyal friend--always willing to help as needed; Joyce and Mary and Juanita were the stable threesome at DCI East Ridge many years ago . Joyce was a caregiver for Juanita during her last years of life and provided much needed support. The stable threesome are now together. I will miss my talks with Joyce. RIP!

Joyce Godsey wasn't just a by-the-books social worker; she was a think-outside-the-box one.  She could have competently helped her clients push through paperwork and had it said that she did her job.  

But I was once privileged to see the grit and determination she could exercise to extract a client from a dire living situation, where he was shamelessly exploited for his meager social security income.  She personally removed him from those heartless conditions to safe shelter in a senior complex, where he lived out his last years on earth with dignity.   

This world has lost a woman of grace and compassion with her passing--truly a treasure it could not afford to lose.   My condolences to her family and friends.  



Joyce and I were friends for 47 years. Our social work careers began at the same agency and ended at the same dialysis company. We shared so many adventures, so many ordinary times, and so many talks.  I have known all of her family and she has known all of mine. We have shared so many good times with our circle of friends. She and I traveled from Hawaii to Iceland, from Louisiana to Maine to Florida. We always had each other’s back and could rely on the other’s help no matter where or when. 

And always there was laughter. So much laughter. The memories will always be there. As will the love. I will always miss you, my dear, dear friend. Luv ya! 💕

I will try to always save your last text to me, which was simply: “Oops!” That’s my Joyce!

Having worked with Joyce for lots of years I feel qualified to say that this write up describes her beautifully. Her patients felt and knew her genuine care for them and her colleagues trusted her and called her a friend! Her big heart leaves a big hole! You will be missed Joyce!

Joyce was a wonderful, caring person. She was always taking care of her loved ones and loved her family and friends unconditionally.
She will be greatly missed.
