Lee was born on October 19, 1919 in Ider, Alabama to the late James Hubert and Delia Ethel Kerby. He was drafted into the Army in February of 1941 and the war started in December of 1941. Lee served our country in the Army for 5 years serving in New Guinea and the South Philippines. He moved to the Chattanooga area in 1946 and was of the Baptist faith. Lee retired from TVA with over 20 years and was a teamster driver. Lee was a longtime member of the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie Gayle Kerby; and siblings, Jim and Ira Kerby, Eula Boggs and Octovia Peyton.
Lee is survived by his five children, Lee and Joy Kerby, Jr. of Philadelphia, TN, Michael and Betty Kerby of Aiken, SC, Alice and Don Guider of Rossville, GA, Glenn and Micah Kerby of Valley Head, AL and Jeffery and Amy Kerby of Hixson, TN; five grandchildren, Hannah Lynch of Sterling, VA, Scotty and Jennifer Guider and Wendy and Brandon Buckner both of Chattanooga, Amber Kerby of Lookout Mtn. and Kalen and Tasha Kerby of Wildwood, GA; brother, Roy and Peggy Kerby of Ft. Payne, AL; sisters, Josie Scott and Dorothy Sparks both of Ft. Payne, AL and Margie Roberts, Attalla, AL; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. EST on Wednesday at the North Chapel.
Services for Lee will be held at 11 a.m. EST on Thursday at the North Chapel with Chaplain Dewayne Renfro officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. EST on Thursday at Mountain Home Cemetery, Henagar, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lee’s name to Hospice of Chattanooga, P. O. Box 19269, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
