He was born on April 5, 1933 at home in Soddy, Tennessee to the late Charles and Nancy Varner. Kenneth graduated from Soddy Daisy High School in 1951 where he was voted best all-around Athlete, three years baseball, three years basketball, three years football and served as Captain of the football team. He served our country in the United States Army in Japan during the Korea War. Kenneth retired from DuPont with over 38 years of service. He held memberships with Red Bank Masonic Lodge, Alhambra Shrine Temple, served in the Shriner Bus Unit with over 150,000 miles transporting children to hospitals in Kentucky and Ohio, Knights of Pythis for over 50 years. Kenneth was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and the Hall Sunday School Class.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Mary Joyce Long Varner; brother, Charles Varner.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Aliceson Varner; granddaughter, Kara (Shaun) Hinojosa; great granddaughter, Isabella Burchard; sister, Lynda (Kenneth) Burroughs; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, December 5, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Services for Kenneth will follow at 1 pm on Wednesday at the North Chapel with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
