Elizabeth "Betty" Day

She was born in Rhea County, to the late Bud and Estella Smith. Betty retired from Kroger Corporation as a Bookkeeper and Head Cashier. She was a former member of Middle Valley Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and then was a longtime member of Community Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Darla Olvey, Debbie and Cindy Hamilton; brothers, J.C. “Lucky” Smith and Bill Smith.

Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, John L. Day; sons, Brett (Barbara) Hamilton and Barry Hamilton; grandchildren, Tami (Bill) Friar, John Olvey, Larissa Hamilton and Brettney (Anthony) Williams; 5

great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brother, Robert “Bob” Smith; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 5 to 8 pm on Friday, August 5 and 10 to 11 am on Saturday, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Betty’s life will follow at 11 am on Saturday at the North Chapel with . Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
