David Thomas Martin

David was born March 30th, 1954 in Knoxville, Tennessee to William and Elizabeth Martin. He graduated from Chattanooga Central High School in 1972 where he played football and baseball. He received his MBA from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. On April 14th, 1979, he married Susan Diane Bankston. They raised two daughters, Rachel and Jessica, and one son, Andrew.

David was a lover of all animals and raised many family pets. He also enjoyed birdwatching, fishing, reading, computer programming for work, and home improvements around the house. Over the years, he loved coaching his children primarily in softball and baseball. He dedicated his life to ensuring his kids had everything they could want or need. He was a loving father, a compassionate grandfather, and a patriarch of a large family that will miss him very much. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church, but he had not moved his membership yet after moving back to his hometown.

David was preceded by his Father William and Mother Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife Susan, his three children, Rachel, Andrew, and Jessica, his brother Roger(Susan), sister Dianne(Eileen), grandchildren Brooklyn and Savannah, nephew Christopher, niece Katherine, and step-mother "Grandma" Betty.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 22nd, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020 at 2pm with the Rev. Wayland Stewart officiating. Both services will be held at the Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel Hwy 153 Hixson, TN 37343.
