He had lived most of his life in the Chattanooga area and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Charles was retired from the Chattanooga Police Department after 25 years of service and was awarded the Purple Heart from the Police Department, having been wounded in action. He was an avid Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Vols fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles L., Sr. and Evelyn Dudley.
Survivors are his wife, Tammie Dudley; sister, Kay (J.T.) Marlin; daughter, Jackie Dudley and her daughter, Joey Dudley; daughter, Jennifer Nelson and her twin sons, Brenton and Bradley; step-son, Stoney (Renee) Morton and their daughter, Skye; step- daughter, Tamara Blalock and her children, Koda and Allyssa and another daughter on the way; step-son, Gregory Steadman and his son; nieces, Kathy Cagle and Debbie Hickman and one great niece, Whitney Hickman.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
