Carmen was born in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee where she met the love of her life, Wayne Lewis on Daisy Mountain as Wayne walked through her yard with his dogs to go hunting. She came out to talk a bit and that conversation continued over the next fifty-nine years. They were happily married for fifty-five years.
She played basketball, volleyball, and softball. Although Carmen was only 5'2" she could hit a free throw nine out of ten times. Carmen was a natural dancer. She loved to bop and would drop everything and dance if Elvis came on the radio. She was an impeccable dresser and rarely went out without pantyhose and kept a spare in her purse in case of a run. She was also known to wear a baseball cap with a matching ensemble when she didn't feel like hot rolling her hair.
Carmen was a secretary at Olan Mills for over twenty-five years, a manager for Aloette Cosmetics, and finally retired from Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Lewis, children, Glenn Lewis (Melanie), Elisha Mele (Jason), mother, Katherine Davis, sister, Kathy Commander (Thomas), as well as her grandchildren, Gavin, Lindsey, Ethan, Grace, and Logan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. .
She was preceded in death by her father, Carmen Davis, brother, Ray Davis and niece, Rhonda Parrott.
Carmen is eternally grateful for her lifelong friendship with her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Wade Lewis, Margaret Lewis, Stanley Lewis, and Evelyn Lewis.
A private graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Millsaps Cemetery.
