Willie James McGee

Willie was born on February 13, 1949, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was the son of Willie and Luverta McGee. Willie married Charlotte Moore on August 29, 1970, in Pontiac, Michigan. They have two children, Yvette McGee and Angela (beloved Sharod) Knox; four grandchildren, Milton Ellison, Jr., Chante Knox, Treyvon Knox and Omari Pinney; three great grandchildren, Caleb Sabec, Cillian Sabec and Oliver Sabec; and one God-daughter Brandy (Shane) Ware.

Willie is survived by his wife, Charlotte; their two daughters, Yvette and Angela; three grandsons, Milton, Freyvon and Omar; one granddaughter, Chante; three great grandsons, Caleb, Cilhan and Oliver; God-daughter Brandy (Shane) Ware; and grandson's father Lyndon Pinney. He is also survived by siblings Gloria (Charles), Perkins, Johnny Morton, James (Cora) McGee, and Jean Brown; siblings-in-laws, Nancy McGee, Theresa (Jimmy) Zemke, James (Sue) Moore, Allen (Debby) Moore, Mary Couture, Michael Wall, William Wall, Patty Moore and many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many friends.

He was preceded in death by beloved son-in law, Sharod Knox: grandson's father Milton Ellison; siblings Robert McGee, Mattie Morton, Wille (Jula) Morton, Betty (Sam) Hudson; sister-in-law. Edna Morton; brother-in-law John Moore; and parents Willie Sr. and Luverta McGee.

An inurnment with military honors for Willie will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48442. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 East Highland Rd., Highland, MI 48356. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am until the time of service.
