He was born on June 9, 1954 in Berlin, Germany to Dieter and Sigrun Meyer. He attended Emmanuel Lutheran Elementary School and East High School of Aurora, class of ‘72. Upon graduation, he was appointed to the Air Force Academy by Spiro T. Agnew, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam era. After leaving the Academy he attended the University of Illinois, and Aurora University. Before retirement he was the Engineering Manager for the VCT and Valve Train divisions for LUK-INA of the Schaeffler Group. He was a member of the American Legion and the Society of Automotive Engineers. Roger was a loyal Chicago Bears, Michigan Wolverines, and Detroit Red Wings fan.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia. Loving children, Brant (Amy) Meyer, Dustin (Lindsay) Meyer and Chase Meyer. He is the proud grandfather of Aubree Meyer, Kane Meyer, Payton Meyer and Lincoln Meyer. He is also survived by his sister, Heidemarie (Patrick) Sanchez; his step-mother, Karen Meyer; and sister-in-law, Susan Meyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dieter and Sigrun Meyer, and his brother, Roy Meyer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 5, 2024 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 12701 Highland Road in Hartland. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road and Friday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Burial, along with military honors, will take place Friday at 1:30 pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
