Robert J. Trahey, age 71, of West Bloomfield, passed away May 20, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Karen M. Trahey, the cherished son of the late George and Bessie Trahey, and the loving father of James (Deborah) Trahey, Shawn (Kortney) Trahey, and Cristin Trahey (Paul DeBrincat). He was also the proud grandfather of Reese and Rory Trahey, the dear brother of George (Barbara) Trahey, and the treasured uncle of Linda (John) Sniegowski, Kevin Trahey, and the late Michael Trahey. He was the dear brother-in-law of Carol and David Balge, Debbie (the late Steve) Kilyanek, Donna Cooley (Rudy Garcia), Beverly (Ron) Semak, Barbara Tomlinson, Nancy (Sandy) Mika, Andy (Lisa) Wagel, and the late Patrick Wagel. He is survived by many more caring nieces and nephews.
Bob was born in Detroit in 1944. His family moved to Allen Park when he was eight years old. He graduated from Allen Park High School in 1962 where he played varsity baseball, basketball and football. He met Karen when they were 14 years old and have been married for 51 1/2 years with 3 children, (Jim, Shawn, and Cristin) and 2 grandchildren (Reese and Rory). Also a caring and loving son and son-in-law.
He loved to teach and instruct his children in all things good and proper and of course softball and baseball. He coached baseball for many years in both Taylor and West Bloomfield. Bob attended every event possible for his children and grandchildren and could always be found in the bleachers, on the sidelines or leaning on the fences - gum, beef jerky and seeds at the ready.
Maybe he missed his calling as an entertainer, but used those talents for many a good "Roast" for his fellow co-workers at Lafarge North America. Always hard working and quick witted with a good joke, even if it was a "bit" long. Don't forget his signature bags of bagels, Paris Bakery icon cakes and of course Germack nuts.
We love and will deeply miss you dear Husband, Father and Pa.
