Beloved husband of Nancy. Treasured step-father of David (Julie) Kulpa and Andrew (Kenda) Kulpa. Treasured grandfather of Alex, Christopher, Lindsay, Colin, Caitlin and Carassa. Loving brother and brother-in-law of Margaret Horosko, Mary (Patrick) Teague and Jerry Scopel. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sadly he is preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Katherine Konopnick and one sister, Rosemary Scopel.
Dr. Konopnick graduated from the Detroit Mercy dental program in 1970. He opened his practice, Konopnick Family Dentistry in 1972 in Walled Lake. He met Nancy Ford in the 5th grade but over time went their separate ways. They later reconnected and were married on August 25, 1990. Michael has been a member of Church of the Holy Spirit for 32 years and a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved flower gardening and was an avid fisherman. He was active in the K of C Wood Cutters Group, an organization that cut and sold wood and donated the proceeds to the church. He will be very much missed by all.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 3700 Harvey Lake Road in Highland. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road and Tuesday at church from 10:00am until the time of the mass at 11:00am. There will be a Rosary Service Monday evening at the 6:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Rose Center Cemetery following the mass on Tuesday.
