David Herman Amburgey

David met the love of his life, Debra, and excited to start their new life together, the two were married December 2, 1989 at their home in White Lake, Michigan.

Their love brought together two families and a total of five children: David, Frank, Mary, Michael and Kevin. Though he loved golf, fishing and hunting, David’s favorite role was that as a grandparent. He treasured time with their grandkids and loved being Papa to Jaden, Cara, Dylan, Anna, Calvin, Kendall and Josephine.

David had many dear friends throughout his life. Anyone that knew him, would say Dave had a zest for story telling and schmoozing a crowd! From boating, golfing, traveling, hunting and bowling, he had so many wonderful friends through it all.

He was passionate about his time working at Royal Oak School District. Working for the school system for more than 30 years before his retirement, he had many roles from maintenance, plowing and electrical.

Dave had a soft spot for his furry friends, treating his cat like the valuable family member they were and always spoiled her with tuna for dinner.

David is survived by his devoted wife Debra, his children David Amburgey (April), Frank Leitheim, Mary Fugelsang, Michael Leitheim (Michelle), Kevin Leitheim (Lauren), seven grandchildren, his sisters, Joanne (Bob) Travis, Betty Ann Revitzer (Dennis), Dee Revitzer (Doug) and his beloved cat, Cale. David was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Herman Amburgey, his brother Bruce Amburgey and his brother-in-law Dennis Revitzer.

A visitation for David will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E Highland Rd, Highland, Michigan 48356. A funeral visitation will occur Friday, December 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 3295 E Highland Rd, Highland, Michigan 48356. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 3295 E Highland Rd, Highland, Michigan 48356.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's name to the American Cancer Society or the American Liver Foundation.
