Cathy, such a shining light!  You brightened the life of all who knew you!  From the moment we met (at your wedding in Las Vegas, which I invited myself and my husband to attend) you opened your heart and home to me.  I got to know you through our phone calls, and tho’ I may not remember all the details – which plants and flowers you bought out at Anderson’s, how the lawn was lighted up at Christmas, your latest lunch date, which casino you most recently visited, the exact birds visiting the bird feeders – I left each conversation knowing you were the most positive person I know.  Your abiding and fierce love for Ray, your daughters, your sisters and extended family always came through.  Your unshakable belief in the power of prayer.  Your gratitude for your loved ones, friends and medical team.  I am forever grateful that you called me “sister”.  Rest in peace, Cathy (well, after tending St. Francis’ gardens and feeding his animals).

Dear Lisa and Tara,

Please accept our condolences for the passing of your mother.  Though many miles and years always separated us from talking, sharing and generally getting to know you and your mom, I never stopped wondering how life was treating you and your Mom. I know she will be missed by everyone she knew.  We will be thinking about you today and everyday.  Someone once told us, “don’t think of this as a loss, think of it as a separation”.   It gets us through many sad days.

Cathy was my neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. I would always look forward to seeing her on my walks and visiting with her, Sophie, and Freddie (of course Ray too when he was out). Cathy always added a lot to our street by providing so much beauty  in her flowers and gardens! Most of all it was the Holiday decorations that got us all in to the spirit.  I'm glad  she is at peace now.  I will miss you my friend.

Ray and family,  my heart goes out to you all.   The world has lost a truly kind, generous, loving, amazing person!

I met Cathy at Canterbury on the Lake.   First,  as a banking representative who assisted our residents, then as the love of Rays life!  She spoiled him rotten and loved every minute (well almost every minute 😉😆).   They were meant for each other and I’m sad that those years were cut short.  

She barely knew me when my first daughter was getting married but offered to make her famous chocolate chip cookies for her bridal shower and then she delivered them day of!   It was above and beyond, but that was Cathy!   

I know there will be a hole left in your hearts  that no one else can fill.   I pray that you will find comfort in each other and the memories you all hold dear and thoughts of all that she may be experiencing in Heaven.  Think of her free from cancer and doing all the things she loved and looking down with her beautiful smile letting you all know she loves you and she’s happy & free and will be waiting with open arms for the day she’ll embrace you again!

Cathy Emsley was loved by all and will be missed beyond belief. One very special memory (also humorous) is the way she cared for pets, natures crew of birds, squirrels etc, and of course Ray.  When we didn’t see the usual number of deer and woodland inhabitants, we knew they were at the Emsley’s. She made sure all were fed before she would eat (On occasion, Ray also had to wait to eat, until all of nature’s creatures were fed!) Cathy loved with her whole heart and you could tell how much you were cared for by the octave her voice could reach when “explaining why you were “not correct” about the subject matter being discussed“.  She was a co-conspirator in some shopping excursions… and will be missed. Cathy was not only a neighbor but a true friend.
