Kenneth L. Black

Kenneth Lee Black, age 60, of Griffith, IN gently passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016. He was born June 15, 1955 and greatly loved by parents Dick and Martha Black; he was preceded in death by his father Dick in 2006. Ken was the beloved husband of Carol Black for 23 years. He stood as father to four sons: Jeff Aken, Brian (Kim) Aken, Mark Aken, Mike (Candice) Zaremba, and one daughter Dina (who preceded him in death in 2008). He is “Grandpa Ken” to Kyle, Andrew, Briana, Nathaniel, Parker, and Elizabeth. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with Robert Szoke, Minister officiating. Interment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home. Ken was a Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN class of 1977 alumni and member in good standing of TWB. He worked at NIPSCO for 38 years in the field of finance. He served as president of the Public Service Club of NWI and president of the Members Source Credit Union.
