Eleanor I Schomber

She is survived by her children, Lydia (the late Paul) Meyer, Lois (Wayne) Turczi and Martin (Marsha) Kolina; grandchildren, L.J. Sass, Shannon Pressner, Christopher Kolina, Benjamin Kolina, Melissa (Michael) Chiprich, Kevin Meyer, Matt Turczi and Donald Sass; great-grandchildren, Avery, Ben, Natalie, Amelia and Josephine; and favorite niece-in-law Tina Marin.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Aaron Schomber Sr.; sisters, Helen Decker and Margaret Beretz; son, John Sass; favorite nephew, Robert Marin; grandson, Nathan Sass.

Eleanor was born and raised in East Chicago, IN. She worked as a sales associate for Carson's and also worked in real estate. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, bird watching and playing pinochle. She dedicated herself to serving her community, volunteering her time between hospice, Community Hospital of Munster, and the League of Women Voters. While volunteering was a passion of Eleanor's, her true passion was her family. She loved to spend time watching her family flourish. She was an amazing and wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 pm at Kuiper Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest privately at Elmwood Cemetery.
