A Jamestown native all her life, Juanita worked at Amos Hosiery for more than 40 years before retiring and then going on to work part time in the cafeteria at High Point University for 20 years when she retired again at the age of 90. She loved the HPU students and knew them by name and would make cakes and cookies for the teams on game days. She was a “grandmother” to so many.
Juanita loved her Atlanta Braves and Carolina Tarheels. She followed HPU baseball and basketball. She even had her own special seat for the basketball games.
She faithfully attended Green Street Baptist until her health would not allow her to go anymore.
Juanita is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Julia Mae Wofford and Nancy Barnes.
Juanita is survived by her brother James Ward; special “grandson” Jeremy Livengood; as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Juanita’s name to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
Juanita will lie in state on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018 at Sechrest Funeral Service of High Point from 5pm till 9pm, and again Wednesday morning from 8am till 11am. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 24th, 2018 at 1pm at Deep River Friends Meeting Cemetery, Pastor Brian Charles and Pastor Jason Weekly officiating. The family will receive guests after funeral services.
