Joan Welborn Younger, 81, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
Joan was born in Guilford County, September 16, 1943, a daughter of the late Jahu and Ruby Kivett Welborn. She was a proud graduate of Allen Jay High School. Joan began her work career at High Point Bank and Trust and then owned and operated Lakeside Lawn and Garden Center in Archdale for many years with her late husband, Ronnie. They later moved to Oak Island, owning a garden center and Log Cabin Crafts and Gifts. Joan was a faithful member of the former Welch Memorial UMC and then Bethel Methodist Church in New London. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Welborn.
Surviving are her daughter, Cherie Younger Reeves (Johnny); two grandchildren, Brittany and Kaleb Reeves; two brothers, Wayne and Merle Welborn, several nieces and nephews and her special four legged "Baby".
A Celebration of Joan's life will be held Thursday 12 noon in the Sechrest-Davis Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kevin "Bird" McCormick. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 11a.m. until the service. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Stanly County.
