Jerry Bob Byrd Sr.

Jerry Bob Byrd, of High Point, N.C, passed away Sunday, October 8th, 2017, after a brief period of declining health. Mr. Byrd was born October 16, 1932 in Waynesville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Byrd, Sr., one brother, Mr. Charles R. Byrd, Jr., and his beloved wife of 57 years, Polly Carroll Byrd.

Mr. Byrd enjoyed a long career in the furniture industry in a number of capacities, including sales, management, and distribution. He established many long term friendships and relationships in the furniture industry. He had a passion for serving and helping others, and always strived to put others before himself. He enjoyed playing golf, buying and selling cars, reading, and spending time with his family. He had a special affection for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Byrd is survived by his sons and daughter: Jerry B. Byrd, Jr., Kent Byrd (Denese), and Paige Humbert (Chris). Also surviving are his grandchildren Mary Katherine Baker (Nick), Caroline Stephens (Andrew), Allison Byrd, Christina Scheper (Patrick), Greg Smith (Kellie), Bryce Humbert, and Bayleigh Humbert. Mr. Byrd had five great grandchildren.

His legacy will live on within our family – strength, hard work, faith, humility, gratitude, and service to others. We will be forever grateful for his love and character.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Piedmont or the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina at Lake Waccamaw.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12th, 2017 at 1pm at Davis Funeral Home of High Point. The family will receive friends following the service.
