With French as her first language, Helene spent her childhood there along with her siblings Paul, Louise, Jean, Jules and Roch. She graduated in 1954 from St. Marie’s High School in Manchester. She attended the Notre Dame School of Nursing where she a became a registered nurse and later earned her Bachelor of School Nurse Teaching degree from State University of New York in Oneonta, NY.
She lived in Norwich, NY for many years where she raised her four children: Ronnie, Deanne, Lisa and Janine. Her love of the sand and surf drew her south to Elizabeth City, NC and later to Wilmington, NC. After a heath-scare in 2004 she moved to Kernersville, NC to be closer to her loving family.
Helene enjoyed nature and was especially enamored with birds. We always enjoyed her attempts at mimicking their calls. Helene was fiercely independent. She was an avid reader and mystery lover. She was a huge proponent of women’s rights.
Helene left us on March 4th, 2022.
The family would like to thank the staff of Moses Cone Hospital (2 West), the Palliative Care team and Chaplain Ellen. Also, Hospice Home of High Point for their loving care through a very difficult period of her journey. A special thank you to Laura Hernandez for going above and beyond for Helene.
Helene was preceded in death by her parents (Edgar and Angeline), her brothers Paul Tremblay and Roch Tremblay and her sister Louise Tremblay.
