Eugenia Hepler Hill Atkinson of High Point, North Carolina, passed away on February 10, 2023. Eugenia was born in Catawba County to the late Eugene Hill and the late Effie Hepler Hill on August 25, 1923.
She graduated from High Point High School in 1941. In 1946 she married Elwood Homer Atkinson of Surry County. When the youngest of their children began school, Eugenia began work with Sears where she retired in 1983. Eugenia was a long time member of Ward Street United Methodist Church and Ward Street Mission, where she served faithfully. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Elwood Homer Atkinson. In addition preceding in death were brother Everett Hill and sisters Pauline Skyes, Vida Johnston, and Frances Keener, one niece and 3 nephews.
Surviving are 2 sons- Tom Atkinson of Greensboro and Phillip Atkinson of Lexington; 3 daughters- Deborah Taggert, Andra Grundman, and Paula Atkinson of Winston Salem; A granddaughter Erin Taylor (Chris) of New Jersey; and a grandson- Christian Grundman currently in Germany.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Sechrest- Davis Funerals and Cremations, 967 Phillips Avenue, High Point, NC 27262 On Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Floral Garden in High Point.
The family will greet friends prior to the service from 9:00 – 9:45 am at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to a Charity of choice.
