He was born in Guilford county on January 4, 1933 to Elmo and Ruby Ellen Gossett Welch. Mr. Welch retired in 1983 from Myrtle Desk Company and was a member of Allen Jay Baptist Church. On May 7, 1983 he married Pearl Lawson who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a son, Timothy Ray Welch and a step-daughter, Jennifer Renee Lawson of Kernersville. There are two granddaughters, two grandsons, and three great grandsons. Also surviving are Mr. Welch’s Aunt, Mary Ethel Bernard and husband Forrest of High Point, and one very special cousin, Margaret Idol.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Sechrest Funeral Chapel on E. Lexington Avenue.
Interment will follow in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am prior to the service.
