Mr. Darrell Ernest Meredith

Thomasville, NC Darrell E. Meredith, 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 28, 2015 at his residence. Darrell was born in Davidson County, April 11, 1930, a son of the late Darius and Blanche Jones Meredith. He was employed by Old Dominion for 37 years and then worked with Joe’s Tractor sales. Darrell was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Meredith; two sisters, Mary Mitchell and Rosene Trexler and three brothers, D.C., James and Barkley Meredith. He was a member Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and a former member of the American Truckers Association. Darrell enjoyed working the family farm his entire life. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Bea Danford Meredith; a daughter, Janis Surratt and husband Randy; two sons, Darrell E. “Mickey” Meredith, Jr. and wife Bonnie and David Meredith and wife Sandra; a sister, Evelyn Davis; a brother, Robert Meredith and wife Margaret; seven grandchildren, Brandon Meredith and wife Debi, Paige Everhart and husband Daniel, Claire Francis and husband Merrick; Emily Meredith and fiancé Ken Hough, Erin Meredith, and Brittany and Sean McInnis; four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Douglas Kameh, Alyssa Tager, and Cooper Meredith; and numerous nephews and nieces. A Celebration of Darrell’s Life will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church by Rev. Anne Elmore and the Rev. Joe Parker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and following the burial until 1 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church or to Hospice of the Piedmont.
