She was born in High Point on October 3, 1936 to the late Raymond and Annarvell Sink Newton. Barbara took pride in every job she worked, with the last being a cashier at Leach and Wagoner Grocery Store.
Barbara was a fierce Prayer Warrior. She thoroughly enjoyed reading her bible and spending time worshiping her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a very proud Christian. Barbara was a member at Trinity Baptist Church where she enjoyed her role in the choir.
Most will remember Barbara as the “Brownie Lady.” Her brownies were a cure-all. They were truly made with love.
In her spare time, Barbara could always be found with her family. She was a caring wife, devoted mother, loving grandmother, dear sister, and wonderful friend, who always put her family first.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Spurgeon White; granddaughter, Madeline Baldwin; and siblings, Jewel Hauser and Raymond Newton. Barbara is survived by her children, Jesse (Renee) White and Laura (Adam) Baldwin; grandchildren, Amber, Tyler, Joey, Chloe, Sadie, and Coy; siblings, Phyllis Efird and Percy “Pete” (Polly) Newton; and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
The visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24th from 5-7pm at Davis Funeral Home, 976 Phillips Ave. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 25th at 2pm at Trinity Baptist Church, 6499 NC Highway 62, with Pastor Chuck Garner officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell United Methodist Church.
