Mr. Arthur Sherley “Skeeter” Newton, III of High Point passed away January 28, 2012 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Mr. Newton was a High Point native, born on August 8, 1952 to Arthur Sherley Newton, Jr. and Jackie Rogers Newton. He was a real estate appraiser with the firm of Leamon & Associates in Advance, N.C. Skeeter was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Of all things, Skeeter’s wife, children, grandchildren and many friends were most important to him in life. His unique personality endeared him to many people. He was always smiling and truly never met a stranger. His favorite pastimes were playing golf and following the Wake Forest Deacons. On November 21, 1970 he married Donna Thompson, who survives of the home.

Mr. Newton is also survived by his daughters: Christy Newton Younkman and husband Chris of Sarasota, FLA.; Lori Newton Teel and husband Chad of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and Angie Newton Turner and husband John of Jamestown, NC. ; his mother, Jackie Newton of Winston-Salem, and two sisters; Heidi Wilmoth and husband Lee and Lisa Clayton and husband David all of Winston Salem. Mr. Newton has five grandchildren; Brycen James Younkman, Emma Grace Teel, Chase Newton Teel, Macey Marie Turner, and Cadey Jamison Younkman. Other family members include his Mother and Father-in-law: Tommy and Betty Thompson of Sparta, NC, two sisters-in-law; Dottie and Ted Dorsett of Sparta, and Ann and Tom Johnson of High Point; and a brother-in-law Tommy and Martha Thompson of Sparta.

A memorial service for Mr. Newton will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in Christ United Methodist Church with the Reverend Matt Farabow officiating. The family will receive friends in the Church Reception Room from 2:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the service.
