Ann-Louise Gruener (nee Mordt) passed away at the age of 58 on December 7, 2024. Ann or ‘Ane’ is survived by her husband Robert, her children Kirsten and Luke, her future son-in-law Kostyantyn, her siblings Mark and Paul, her in-laws Rosane, Billy and Anne, her father-in-law Bill, her nephews little Billy, Brendan, and Patrick, her future in-laws Halyna & Ihor, her dog Frodo, her turtle Timothy and her two birds.
Born on December 17, 1965, in Bethpage, New York, she attended Island Trees’ M F Stokes Elementary School and was loved by all teachers. She graduated from Island Trees High School in the top 10 percent of her graduating class and played the violin. She was an excellent volleyball player and was co-captain of the Island Trees women’s volleyball team in her senior year. Not only was Ane a varsity volleyball player, she was also a varsity softball player. She continued to play volleyball well into her adult life and played beach volleyball with her kids at Cedar Beach. Ann worked as a teller manager at the Dime Savings Bank of New York and later became an administrator at Hofstra University. Ann received a B.S. in Business Management from SUNY Old Westbury.
Ane loved the beach, lighthouses, pine trees, photography, and antiques. She had recently obtained an antique farmhouse built in 1789. Most importantly, Ann was a great person and was so strong and funny. She would always make the days better for the people she loved and would always defend them. She loved people and loved talking to them. If she considered you a friend, you brought great happiness into her life. Thank you for that.
Ann will be greatly and deeply missed by all who love her. Ann’s wake will be on Friday December 13, 2024 at Vernon C Wagner Funeral Home, 125 W Old Country Rd, Hicksville, NY, from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 10am at Vernon C Wagner Funeral Home followed by a procession to Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY. If you would like to send flowers, Ann loved bright, beautiful colors. Thank you everyone who made her life special.
