Wayne Scott Crosby, 71, of Hickory, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 at his residence. Born July 21, 1951 in Walterboro, SC, he was the son of the late Wendell Crosby and Maggie Adams Crosby. Scott was a member of First Baptist Church in Hickory where he taught Sunday School. He retired from 43 years of teaching high school and as an instructor at Catawba Valley Community College. Throughout the years, he also had his own landscaping and irrigation business.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Crosby Cox.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Beverly Rush Crosby; son, James Wendell Crosby; daughter, Heather Crosby Sigmon (Jerry); brother, Wendell Anthony Crosby; and grandchildren, Hayley Marisa Sigmon and Anna Paige Sigmon.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Joshua Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
