Tony Eugene Travis

Newton – Tony Eugene Travis, 88 of Newton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born on October 7th, 1935 in Caldwell County, NC, Tony was the son of the late Darcus Beulah and Eulin Eugene Travis. Tony retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture after 35 years of devoted service. In his early years, he was a member of and a deacon at Faith Olive Baptist Church. Tony was a family man and was truly dedicated to be there for and support his family, no matter what. He was loved, adored, spoiled rotten and treasured by his family and he will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his 3rd oldest granddaughter Kaylee Ann Travis, youngest daughter Dawn Lee Bolen, youngest son James Ray Travis, and the only woman he ever loved and the mother of his children, Joyce Gay Travis, as well as, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory include, a daughter, Darkes Gay Grindstaff and husband Tracy Lee, and oldest son Evan Eugene Travis and wife, Melanie, Grandchildren Jennifer Renee Ikard and husband Thomas, Tamara Lynn Blevins and husband Jeremiah, Ashley Bradshaw, Jessica Rae Chapman and husband Michael, lil Evan Eugene Travis, Jonathan Akers and wife Tammy, Larry Akers and wife Amanda, Bailey Mikale Travis and husband Wayne Travis-Whittington, Crystal Victoria Dillard and husband William, Timothy Alan McBee and wife Scottie, Aaron Michael McBee, Great Grandchildren, Brendon Thomas Ikard and wife Chloe, Drelyn Thomas Allen, Andrew Thomas Ikard and wife Harley, Silas Wolfgang Blevins, Monica Lee Bolen and husband Jose, Riley Campbell, Paizley Danner, Kinleigh Rae Parton, Archer Evan Parton, Earl Akers, Joyce Akers, Cheyenne Akers, Leigha Akers, Lilly Akers, Logan Akers, Lacy Akers, Jonah Akers, Jerimiah Akers, Page Dillard, Mallory Dillard, Theron Dillard, Dakota McBee, Alleigh McBee, McKenna McBee, and Great-Great Grandchildren Apollo Walker Rodriguez and Artemis Rodriguez.

A Graveside Service will be held at Catawba Memorial Park on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Wayne Travis Whittington officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at Catawba Funeral Home from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring of Newton in Tony’s name.
