Stephen Harry Newton

Steve Harry Newton, 74, of Hickory, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021 at his residence. Born January 2, 1947 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Paul Hubert Newton and Dorothy Troath Newton. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a long distance truck driver in the furniture industry.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Doris “Dottie” Wheeler Newton; son, Jayden Blake Newton; daughters, Lisa Newton and Stephanie Caetta and husband Adam; brother, David Newton; sister, Dianne Devinney; grandchildren, Zachary Caetta, Krystal Stout, Leah Smith and husband Dustin and 5 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at East Hickory Baptist Church with Joel Wise and Pastor Mark Schmitz officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to East Hickory Baptist Church Youth Ministry, 130 16th Street SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
