Shirley Pierce Rose, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends. After a courageous 20-month battle with cancer, she is now at rest.
Born on January 18, 1947, to the late Marvin Edward Pierce and Mary Ethel Pierce, Shirley grew up with a strong dedication to her four brothers. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she faithfully served in many roles throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Louis Rose, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship.
Shirley was a beacon of joy to all who knew her. Her life was defined by her deep commitment to family, friends, and community. Through her career as a nurse, she expressed her love of service, forming lasting bonds with colleagues, patients, and doctors alike. Shirley was known for her lively spirit and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand and brighten any gathering with her vibrant personality.
Shirley’s legacy lives on through her two children, Debra Burris (Randy) of Conover, NC, and Joseph Rose (Holly) of Eagle Mountain, UT; her brother, Terry Pierce (Kristen) of Charleston, IN; and her brother-in-law, Keith Rose of Knoxville, TN. She is also survived by her beloved niece, Tammie Rose of Taylorsville, NC; eight grandchildren: Matthew Bradshaw (Ashley) of Hickory, Michael Bradshaw (Shannon) of Canton, and Gracie, Jackson, Ela, Olivia, Cardin, and Maxwell Rose, all of Eagle Mountain, UT; and seven great-grandchildren: Grant, Abbie, Lily, Kayleigh, Jaxon, Nolan, and Levi Bradshaw, all of Hickory, NC.
To honor Shirley’s memory, a viewing will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory, NC.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at noon, at Union Hill Cemetery in Whittier, NC.
Shirley’s kindness, devotion, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
