She was born on June 26, 1931 to the late James W. Huff and Estelle Huff in Oglethorpe County, GA. In her earlier years, Jeanette was an active in the bowling circles in the Mid-Atlantic area, participating and organizing tournaments, competitive ballroom dancing, and in later years, giving to numerous organizations. Jeanette worked for Hickory Springs for 42 years before she retired. After her retirement, Jeanette spent most of her time in the kitchen cooking meals for her family and friends. She was a very loving mother and grandmother.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Butler; son, Timothy William Butler; grandson, Carl William Butler; and brothers Clyde Huff, Albert Huff, Gene Huff, and Lamar Huff.
Survivors include her son, Carl Butler and Sonya Stamey of Hickory; grandchildren, Jenna Leigh Butler, Bryant Butler, Aaron Schmidt, Jody Butler; daughter-in-law, Louanna Strom and husband Jerry; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Jeanette will lie in state on Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home. The family will not be present.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Dr. Wayne Caviness will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
