Mrs. Ruby Avery Thurman

Ruby was born on February 6, 1926 in Lincoln County to the late Beverly and Florence Houser Avery .

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Connie Evans Thurman, five brothers, Steve Avery and wife Gladys, Lewis Avery and wife Stella, Clyde Avery, Fred Avery and wife Daisy, Bill Avery and a sister Ethel Elmore and husband Arvel.

Ruby was a member of New Life Fellowship Church, Hickory Senior Citizens and retired from Red Hill Hosiery.

She is survived by four daughters, Patsy Hudson and husband Howard of Newton, Nettie Smith and husband Kenneth of Conover, Brenda Lutz and husband Darrell of Hickory, Terrie Tallant and husband Gary of Hickory a son, Kenneth Thurman and wife Gail of Newton, grandchildren, Angie Massagee and husband Brian, Amanda Duncan and husband Tommy, Jeremy Abbott, Jennifer Jackson and husband Joel, Jessica Clark and husband Nathan, Bryan Thurman and wife Danielle, Justin Thurman and wife Crystal, Jason Tallant and wife Tara, David Tallant and wife Lisa was blessed by 17 great grandchildren, two sister in laws, Stella Avery and Ann Avery both of Lincolnton.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M.. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at New Life Fellowship Church on Robinson Road in Hickory with the Reverend Michael Hoyle and Justin Thurman officiating.

Interment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the church.
