Peggy Ann (Sigmon) Mays

Peggy Ann Sigmon Mays, 92 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 24th, 2025, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on February 3rd, 1933, in Catawba County, NC, Peggy was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Lou Cline Sigmon. Peggy was the youngest of 10 siblings. She loved gardening and just being outdoors. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Rowe Mays; her son, Ronald Mays; her grandson, Brett Mays; as well as 9 brothers and sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her son, Randall Mays and wife, Teresa; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Mays; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Eunice Mays.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at 2:00 pm with Pastors Alec Fisher and Richard Tucker officiating. She will be laid to rest at Catawba Memorial Park following the service.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church 324 2nd Ave SE, Hickory, NC 28602 in Peggy’s name.
