Norman Lewis Frye

NEWTON – Norman Lewis Frye, 84 of Newton went home to be with the Lord on October 29, 2018 at his residence.

Born on May 16, 1934 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Luther and Minnie Smith Frye. Norman retired from the US Navy after twenty years of service. He retired after twenty years from Highland House Furniture. Norman enjoyed playing softball and bowling. He loved watching sports.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife of twenty four years, Mary Hendrix Frye of the home; children, Darell Frye and wife Vickie of Hiddenite, Donna Korb and husband Paul of McDonaugh, GA, Debbie Frye and life friend Mercy Torra of Braden, FL, Melissa Nix and husband Niquel of Newnan, GA, Shawn Frye of Hildebran; step-daughter, Lisa Punch and husband Gary of Vale; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 2 PM at Catawba Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at the funeral home.
