Norma Jean Yount

Conover – Norma Jean Yount, 84, of Conover went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born on October 11, 1938 in Catawba County, NC, Norma was the daughter of the late Albert Mitchell, and Doris Flowers Mitchell Punch.

Norma was employed as a CNA by Hospice of Catawba County, Frye Regional Medical Center and Premier Home Health. She loved her patients and each one was very dear to her. She was also schooled by Dr. Glenn R. Frye as a CNA. Norma was a member of Hickory Seventh Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed painting and traveling. She was loved by her family and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Guy Melvin Punch (step-father).

Those left to cherish her memory include 2 sons, Michael Lee Yount and Jeffery Scott Yount, and a daughter, Vicky Jean Michael (Robert Michael), and 2 granddaughters, Zowie Michael and Uma Yount.

In addition, significant others include, Carrie & Alexis Lockamy, & Lisa Magni.

Surviving siblings include Dwight Huffstetler, Janet Sigmon, Diane Drum, and Dwight Punch.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 6:00 pm with Pastor Art Randall officiating.

The family will receive friends for a short time after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring of Newton in Norma’s name.
