Mary Jo (Childers) Rogers

She was born on July 24, 1929 to the late John O. Childers and Maude P. Childers in Catawba County. Mary was a member of Wilkies Grove Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil L. Rogers Sr.; siblings, Berl Childers, Sandy Childers, A.C. Childers, Fred Childers, Margaret Childers, and Merlene Childers.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Smart of Morganton; son, Cecil “Buck” Rogers, Jr. and wife Lynn of Icard; grandchildren, Christie McMahon and husband Tim, Jeremy Smart, Allegra Lynch and husband Brian; great grandchildren, Austen Winters and wife Taylor, Alexander McMahon, Katherine McMahon, Carsyn Lynch; and sister, Nancy Whisnant.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 pm at the church. Rev. Thurman Roe will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
