MARGARET H. CRANFORD NEWTON – Margaret H. Cranford, 89 of Newton went to Heaven to see Jesus and be reunited with her husband, Jessie; daughter, Diane; son, Terry and other family members on October 26, 2016. She was born on March 17, 1927 in Burke County, the daughter of the late Bertie Hice. Margaret was a devoted Christian who touched, encouraged and inspired all those around her. She served as a Pastor’s wife for thirty-five years. Foremost in her life was her love and faith in Jesus Christ and was a living testimony to the love of God. She and her husband were the founders of Cranford Woodcarving Inc. where she remained employed until her retirement. Margaret loved spending time with her family, telling old stories and laughing together. She loved to play cards and was so competitive that she had to stop playing later in life because her blood pressure would get too high! Margaret was an avid gardener, with many varieties of flowers and plants. She also loved to can green beans and continued to do so through this summer. Margaret’s birthday was on St. Patrick’s Day which she felt attributed to her ability to find four leaf clovers just by glancing in the grass. She collected thousands of four leaf clovers and would date them as she found them. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Belverd and husband Bruce of Newton; daughter-in-law, Mary Cranford of Hickory; grandchildren, Brian Hoke and wife Renee of Hickory, Lynette Whitfield and husband Kirk of Hickory, Dennis Cranford and wife Aden of Hickory, Brad Hoke and wife Christy of Hickory, Tomera Mitchell and husband Ted of Hickory, Margo Cranford of Asheville, Jamie Holsclaw of Hickory, Misty Crawford of Hickory; great-grandchildren, Preston Hoke, Briana Hoke, Caitlyn Mitchell, Gavin Hoke, Maelyn Cranford, Trevor Mitchell, Morgan Hoke, Max Cranford, Kamden Whitfield, Kiley Whitfield, Adyson Mitchell, Jordyn Mitchell; four sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 2 PM at New Life Fellowship Church, 1941 Robinson Rd, Hickory, NC 28602 with Pastor Greg Hames, Pastor Robert Gober, and Pastor Chad Warner officiating.
