Mack Perry Stafford, 94, born March 13, 1930 to the late Perry Franklin Stafford and Lottie Fox Stafford of Alexander County. He was a graduate of Taylorville High School, Lenoir-Rhyne University with a BA in Education, Appalachian University with a MA and Educational Specialist Degree with an Advanced Principals Certificate.
Mack was an active member of Viewmont Baptist Church and Master Workman’s Sunday School Class, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of St. Stephens and Gastonia Lions Clubs for 36 years, serving as president of both clubs, earning Lion of the Year Award and named a Melvin Jones Fellow. He retired following service as a teacher and principal in Catawba and Gaston County Schools and the USPS. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and sharing from his garden.
In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by his son, Larry Edward Stafford; sisters, Blanche Stafford, Belle Teague and Sara Seitz, and Toy Smith; brothers, Glenn, Roy, Don and Lindsay Stafford and sister-n-law, Edna Stafford.
Mack is survived by his wife, Gayle Hutchinson Stafford; son, Darrell Stafford and wife, Amelia; brother, Wade Stafford of Gastonia; grandchildren, Crystal White and husband, Joshua, Houston Stafford and wife Lisa, Nichole Armstrong, Melanie Stafford, Ben Stafford, Bradley Stafford and wife Brittney; great-grandchildren, Diatheke Stafford, Alithya White, Isaiah and Gabriel Stafford, Michael and Isabell Jimenez, Braxton Mack and Norah Lee Stafford; and many special nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm at Viewmont Baptist Church on Thursday, April 25, 2024 with Rev. Andrew Rawls officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm prior to the service. Inurnment will follow the service.
