Virginia Thomas Bailes, 73, of Hickory, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 13, 2017 at her residence. Born April 28, 1944 in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Thomas and Lydia Oaks Thomas. A longstanding member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, she loved to read her Bible and was a faithful prayer warrior for her family and friends. Grandma loved and was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will miss their Grandma.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles Bailes; brothers, Charlie, Snook, and John Thomas; and sisters, Frankie Thomas, Jane Thomas, Beulah Griffin and Elizabeth Mathis.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Corina Hager and husband, David of Lawndale; son, James Wesley Bailes and wife Anita of Hickory; grandchildren, Tim Hager and wife Tracie of Kansas, Dan Hager and wife Ahnah of WA ,and Chris Hager of Lincolnton; great-grandchildren, Axel, Caden, Cody, Anna, Cora and Kenneth; brother, Gordon Thomas of Hickory; and special friends, Judy Tabor, Shelby Dale and David Dean.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Hooks and Pastor Dan Hager officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1225 29th Ave Dr. NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
