Joyce Wanda Smith

Born February 14, 1935 in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late Richard Lee Plyler and Dokie Ossie Hunsinger Plyler. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Hickory where she enjoyed singing in the choir and working with Meals on Wheels. She graduated from Harding High in Charlotte in 1953. Joyce enjoyed playing the piano, working in her garden and taking beach vacations.

Joyce is survived by her son, Michael Smith of Granite Falls; and grandson, Jeffery Michael Smith.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 in the Drum Funeral Home Chapel, Hickory with Rev. Paul Christy and Rev. Jennifer Forrester officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 2:45 pm prior to the service.
