John Ernest Greathouse

John Ernest Greathouse, 57, of Hickory, passed away on June 11, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. Born April 16, 1958 in Marshall County, WV, he was the son of the late Ernie and Nancy Gorby Greathouse. A member of the First Advent Christian Church, he served four years in the Marines and was a long distance truck driver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Greathouse.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Sheila Holmes Greathouse; sons, Christopher Greathouse of Conover and John Greathouse and wife Ginny of WV; daughter, Deanna Greathouse of Conover; grandchildren, Landin Greathouse, Wyatt Greathouse and Gunner Greathouse; brother, Jim Greathouse and wife Candace of Florida; and sister Debbie Edgell and husband Eugene of WV.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory. A private memorial service for the family only will follow the receiving at 5:00 p.m.

The family requests that memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
