Jimmy Lee Shook

He was born on August 5, 1930 to the late John Washington Shook and Pearl Hartsoe Shook in Catawba County. He was a charter member of Peace United Church of Christ, formally known as Church of the Master. Jimmy was a Veteran of the United States Navy where he served during the Korean War. He dedicated many years of service to Shuford Mills before he retired working as the Maintenance Super Intendant. In his retirement he enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors and spending time at his beach house on Oak Island. He never met a stranger.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Setzer; and his brothers, John Shook, Fred Shook, and Claude Shook.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Jeff Shook and wife Tammy of Vale, Joe Shook and wife Maria of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Liz Hefner and husband Brian and Terry Shook; great grandchildren, Madelyn Hefner and Maya Hefner; sister, Ruby Sherrill; brother, Jack Shook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45p.m. at the church. Pastor Patrick Campbell and Rev. Don Flick will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 48.
