He was born on April 5, 1951 to the late Billy Eugene Gray and Helen Irene Isenhour in Catawba County. Donald was a self-employed brick mason.
Survivors include his son, Alex Gray and wife Amanda of Hickory; daughter, Alexis Joines of Hickory; grandchildren, Keagan Joines and Makalynn Joines; ex-wife and best friend, Donna Bumgarner; special long-time friends, Ronald “Runt” Herman and wife Vera, Roger Lail, Steve Sigmon, Mark Witt and numerous hunting and fishing buddies.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Rick Hedrick will be officiating the service.
