David Ross Starnes, 84, of Hickory, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at his residence. Born August 3, 1940 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Keener Vance Starnes and Delia Miller Starnes. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Starnes, Ted Starnes Floyd Starnes and Keener Vance Starnes, Jr; sisters, Lovenia Guthrie, Mildred Tolbert and Patsy Hendricks.
A member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, David was an upholsterer in the furniture industry and also a plant manager prior to his retirement.
David is survived by his wife, Carolyn Smith Starnes; son, David Eric Starnes and sister Linda Brown.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Conover, at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2024. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm – 1:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
