Newton – Bonnie Royston Payne, 91 of Newton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 27, 1929, in Clarke County, VA. Bonnie was the daughter of the late William Bradford and Bessie Frances Renner Royston. She proudly served her country in the Dept. of the Army, and even had the privilege of working in the White House during the Eisenhower Administration. Bonnie spent her days loving her family and following the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She was widowed by her husband of 3 years, William Allder, and her husband, Richard L. Payne of 53 years. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Robinette and a grandson, John R. Powers.
Those left to cherish her memory include 4 children; Sharon Cogle, Peggy Coates, Bruce Allder, and Joy Laboy; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 2103 Mt. Olive Church Rd, Newton, NC 28658. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am to 11:15 am at the church. Burial is planned for at a future date at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
