Sophia M. Hamilton, 96, of Henderson, left this world to live in her eternal home, Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Gentiva Hospice. She was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Jefferson, Texas. She attended school in Texas with her sister, and was a member of Post 4 Billings and Post 40 Henderson, two-year president of Post 4 Legion Auxiliary, and two-year president of the Pink Ladies of Billings. She was also a great hunter and fisherwoman. Sophia is survived by her husband, of 46 years, Theodore Hamilton Jr. There are three children, two daughters, Deana Bell and Donna Green; one son, Ronald Hamilton; and stepdaughter, Bertha Hamilton; 14 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren; one sister, Tina Bennett; two nieces, Ramon Pool and Francis Nemmer; and many more nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Desert Hills Baptist Church, 4401 S. Nellis Blvd., Las Vegas. Burial to follow at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
